Jensen Huang's Crocodile Leather Jacket: What It Is and How to Get the Look

Jensen Huang's Crocodile Leather Jacket: What It Is and How to Get the Look

Men's black alligator belly leather jacket, the look made famous by Jensen Huang

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is known for wearing a black leather jacket on stage, and the one he wore for his CES 2025 keynote got more attention than most. It had a glossy crocodile pattern, and searches for a "Jensen Huang crocodile jacket" or "alligator jacket" jumped straight after. This guide explains what that jacket was, the difference between genuine and printed crocodile leather, and how to get a similar look.

What jacket did he wear at CES 2025?

Fashion press identified it as a black Tom Ford blouson with a patent printed croc finish, reported at around $8,990. "Printed croc" means the scale pattern is printed or embossed onto leather rather than cut from a real crocodile hide. That is a common choice for designer jackets, because it gives a uniform, high-shine pattern at a lower cost than genuine skin.

Genuine alligator vs croc-embossed leather

  • Genuine alligator or crocodile: cut from real hide, so the scales vary naturally across the jacket and no two pieces are the same. It needs CITES paperwork to cross borders and costs several thousand dollars for a full jacket.
  • Croc-embossed or printed leather: usually cowhide or calfskin pressed with a scale pattern. The pattern repeats evenly, it is lighter on the wallet and it needs no exotic-leather paperwork.

To tell them apart, look at the scales: genuine skin shows small irregularities, natural creases between scales and a change in scale size from the belly to the flanks. Embossed leather looks perfectly regular. Our exotic leather guide covers this in more detail.

How to get the look

The keynote look is simple: a black, waist-length, close-fitting leather jacket worn over a plain black T-shirt, with dark jeans and clean shoes. The jacket does the talking, so keep everything else plain.

Every genuine exotic jacket we make is cut and stitched by hand in our family workshop, made to your measurements, and shipped with its CITES export permit. If you want a croc-embossed version at a lower price, contact us for a quote.

Caring for a crocodile leather jacket

Keep it away from direct heat and long spells in strong sunlight, store it on a wide hanger with space around it, and use a conditioner made for reptile leather once or twice a year. Wipe off rain with a soft cloth and let it dry at room temperature.

Why a black leather jacket works as a signature look

Part of the reason the jacket got so much attention is that Huang's look is so consistent. A black leather jacket over a black T-shirt is simple, easy to recognise and works on a stage, in a photo or on a video call. Changing just one thing, the texture of the leather, was enough to make people notice. That's a useful lesson if you want a statement jacket of your own: keep the shape and colours classic, and let the leather do the work.

Alligator belly, crocodile or embossed: which to choose

  • Alligator belly: smooth, even rectangular tiles. It reads as polished and refined, close to the look on stage. See our alligator belly leather jacket guide.
  • Crocodile: a little more irregular, with small sensory dots on the belly scales. Our crocodile vs alligator guide explains the differences.
  • Croc-embossed cowhide: the same idea as the jacket that was reported: a scale pattern pressed into cowhide, which is tougher and easier to look after day to day.

Getting the fit right

The look depends on a close, clean fit: waist-length, with the hem sitting at or just below the belt, sleeves ending at the wrist bone and no extra fabric across the back. A boxy or oversized jacket changes the whole effect.

We offer standard sizes, and most styles can be made to your own measurements for $30 more. Once we have your measurements, your pattern is drafted in 2–3 business hours. Because genuine exotic jackets are final sale, take your measurements carefully before you order. See how made to measure works.

Frequently asked questions

Was Jensen Huang's CES 2025 jacket real crocodile?

According to fashion press reports, no. It was identified as a Tom Ford blouson with a patent printed croc finish, meaning the pattern was applied to the leather rather than cut from crocodile skin.

What should I wear with a crocodile-pattern leather jacket?

Keep the rest plain: a black T-shirt, dark jeans or trousers and clean shoes. Avoid other strong patterns so the leather stays the focus.

How long does a genuine alligator jacket take to arrive?

Genuine exotic jackets are made to order in 3–4 weeks, then shipping takes about 1 week.

Can I return a genuine exotic jacket?

No. Genuine exotic jackets are made to order and are final sale. Standard sizes in our regular leathers can be returned within 30 days.
