Wholesale Leather Jackets: A Buyer's Guide for Boutiques and Brands

Men's black leather asymmetrical biker jacket, women's black lambskin leather biker jacket and men's black leather bomber jacket with ribbed collar

Buying wholesale leather jackets for a boutique, a new label, a club or a corporate program goes smoothly when you plan it the way an experienced buyer does: styles first, then sizes, leather and branding, and a sample before bulk. This guide walks through each decision so your quote comes back accurate and the jackets arrive the way you pictured them.

Quick answer: Wholesale leather jackets from our workshop start at 10 pieces per style in genuine leather. Choose your styles, plan a size run around your customers, pick leather and colors, add your label or logo, and approve a sample before bulk production. Pricing, lead time, freight and duties are set out in your written quote.

Who buys wholesale leather jackets, and what is the minimum order?

Most wholesale orders come from four kinds of buyers:

  • Boutiques and stores adding a small, curated leather range.
  • Fashion brands and start-ups launching jackets under their own label.
  • Clubs and teams that want matching jackets with a shared logo.
  • Corporate buyers ordering gifts, staff outerwear or event pieces.

Each group plans differently. A boutique thinks about how the jackets will sit next to the rest of its stock and how quickly they will sell. A brand cares most about consistent fit and its own label. Clubs and corporate buyers usually know exactly who will wear each jacket, so getting every person's size right matters more than forecasting demand.

Our wholesale minimum starts from 10 pieces per style in leather. A style is one design, so a biker jacket and a bomber count as two styles. When you ask for a quote, ask how sizes and colors can be split within that minimum.

What to prepare before you ask for a quote

  • the styles you want, as photos, sketches, a tech pack or a sample jacket;
  • quantities per style and a rough size breakdown;
  • leather, finish and color preferences;
  • logo files and where each logo should go;
  • your delivery destination.

The more detail you share up front, the more accurate your quote will be.

How do you choose styles for wholesale leather jackets?

Start narrow. Two or three strong styles ordered in sensible depth usually sell better than ten styles with one or two pieces each.

  • Lead with classics. An asymmetrical biker and a bomber suit the widest range of customers and rarely go out of style.
  • Cover both men and women if your store serves both. A women's biker is a reliable starting point.
  • Add one fashion piece once the basics are in place, such as a cropped cut, a shearling collar or a seasonal color.
  • Match the buyer. Clubs often prefer biker styles, while bombers read as polished enough for corporate gifts.

Timing matters too. Demand for leather outerwear tends to build from early fall into the holiday season, so plan your order early enough to have stock ready when customers start looking.

These three styles make a practical core range for a first wholesale order.

How do you plan a size run?

A size run, sometimes called a size curve, is how you spread each style across sizes. Most retail demand sits in the middle sizes, so a first order usually weights medium and large more heavily than the ends of the range. For example, a 10-piece run might be one small, three medium, three large, two XL and one XXL. Adjust it to your own sales history.

  • Stores: base the curve on what sells in your other outerwear.
  • Clubs and corporate orders: collect each person's size or measurements before you order, so every jacket has an owner.
  • Brands with their own fit: send your size chart. We can grade patterns to your chart so the jackets match the rest of your line.

Which leather types and colors should you choose?

Leather choice affects the look, weight, feel and cost of every piece. As a general guide, lambskin is soft and light and suits fashion-led ranges, cowhide is sturdier and suits moto styles and everyday wear, and suede works well as a seasonal add-on. Finishes matter too: smooth, distressed and waxed leathers each attract a different customer. Explore the options on our leather types page, and see the shades available on our leather colors page.

For a first order, black is the safest core color and brown is a strong second. Add one seasonal shade only if you know your customers want it.

Why approve a sample before bulk production?

A sample, or a mockup for decoration, lets you check the leather, color, fit and branding before the full order is made. Any sample fee is shown in your quote, and bulk production only starts after your written approval. When the sample arrives:

  1. try it on real people in the sizes you sell most;
  2. check the leather's feel and color in daylight;
  3. look at logo size and placement from a normal viewing distance;
  4. open and close every zip and snap, and check the lining and pockets;
  5. note any changes in writing so they carry into production.

How do private label and logos work?

With private label production, the jackets carry your brand rather than ours. That can include your woven label inside the neck, your hang tags and your packaging. Logos can be embroidered, added as patches, printed, or embossed and debossed, and decoration is applied to the flat panels before the jacket is sewn together, so it sits cleanly. Our guide to a custom leather jacket with logo compares each method.

What quality checks should you run on delivery?

Check the delivery against the approved sample and your order sheet: quantities per size, color consistency across pieces, straight stitching, smooth zips, and logos placed where you agreed. Our checklist for spotting a quality leather jacket is a handy reference for your team.

What about pricing, lead times, duties and returns?

  • Pricing is quoted per order, based on the design, leather, quantity and decoration, and agreed before production starts.
  • Lead times also depend on the design, materials, quantity and decoration. We confirm production time in writing with your quote.
  • Import duties and taxes vary by country and by how the goods are classified. Freight, duties and taxes for your destination are made clear in your quote, and a local customs broker can advise on your side.
  • Returns: wholesale jackets are custom and made to order, and custom and made-to-order pieces can't be returned. That is why sample approval matters so much.

Need fewer than 10 pieces? Our fully custom leather jackets are quoted from $199 to $499 each, and they are also made to order, so they can't be returned either.

FAQ

What is the minimum order for wholesale leather jackets?

From 10 pieces per style in leather. Ask how sizes and colors can be split within that number when you request a quote.

Can the jackets carry my own brand?

Yes. Private label options include your woven neck label, tags and packaging, plus logos applied by embroidery, patches, printing or embossing.

How long does a wholesale order take?

It depends on the design, materials, quantity and decoration. We confirm the production time in writing with your quote, before you place the order.

Can I return wholesale jackets?

No. Wholesale pieces are custom and made to order, so they can't be returned. Approving a sample before bulk production is the best way to be sure the order is right.

Wholesale leather jackets work best when you start with a tight range, a sensible size run and an approved sample. When you are ready, request a wholesale quote and tell us about your styles, quantities and branding.
